Equipment for Cardiovascular Fitness

State of the art Wireless Infrared treadmill stress machine

ECT WS 2000 is designed to monitor, store and measure data during the performance of cardiovascular provocative tests, (stress-testing).

Without long wires tethered to the patient and the acquisition unit which creates abundant artifacts, our wireless system gives us the crispest and most accurate EKG tracing in the industry.

The recorded ECG is transmitted via a small portable ECG recorder (ECT 12 no bigger than a recorder for ambulatory ECG monitoring) powered by a 9 V alkaline battery.

ECT 12 is applied around the patient¹s waist with a belt. Signal reception is delivered wirelessly, via infrared, by a small "dome" equipped with photo detectors and connected to a receiving demodulation post analysis card, connected to the unit.

The system ECT WS 2000 receives the 12 ECG leads in real time, it checks and monitors the operation of a treadmill; it receives commands and/or data from an alphanumeric keyboard; it displays the ECG trace and measurements on a high resolution digital monitor and, lastly, it manages a high performance thermal printer for real time or full disclosure printouts (full disclosure for one or more leads, tables, arrhythmias, measurements, averaging, graphs, trends, etc.).

Equipment to measure Arterial Stiffness Index
[Cardio Vision® is a non-invasive, FDA approved device for measuring ARTERIAL STIFFNESS INDEX (ASI)]

Arterial Stiffness Index (ASI), pulse pressure & arterial brachial index are important therapeutic target. They correlate with the coronary arteries as to the extent of atherosclerotic lesions. The stiffer the arteries, the harder the heart has to work to move blood and the more damage is inflicted on the circulatory system and the heart.

At ILIV we are always on look out for potential underlying problems and biomarkers to trend in an attempt to gauge the efficacy of our treatment modalities.

The Cardio Vision device
is an automated blood pressure cuff, which measures specifically the brachial artery distensibility, systolic, diastolic, mean and pulse pressures. This is a computerized oscillometer, designed using a special computer chip to take over 6000 measurements in 15 seconds. It is thus able to instantly give an Arterial Stiffness Index number ranging from 0-750. The higher the index, the greater the level of CHD risks. In addition, this device will pick up Premature Ventricular Contraction (PVC).

Equipment to Measure Key Data on Cardiovascular Fitness

This is done by measuring peak VO2, anaerobic threshold and the precise number of calories burned at exercise heart rate. We then use this information set as the foundation for customized exercise program that truly meets the needs of the individual. At ILIV we are honor the unique genetic and biochemical individuality.

VO2 is the rate of oxygen uptake, or consumption, measured during exercise. The maximum rate of oxygen uptake is called the VO2max or maximum VO2. VO2max is the ultimate measure of fitness and is reported in milliliters of oxygen per kilogram of body weight per minute or ml/Kg/min. To achieve a high VO2max, a person must have a fit heart and lungs and significant lean muscle mass that is well conditioned.

A VO2 test will also show the anaerobic threshold. The anaerobic threshold is the level of exercise intensity beyond which the body can no longer provide adequate oxygen to the muscles. Exercise below the anaerobic threshold should be comfortable even though the exercise extends for long periods. Exercise above the anaerobic threshold will improve cardiovascular fitness, but will also cause discomfort, fatigue, and muscle soreness.

Knowing the unique anaerobic threshold can be used to design a workout plan that will improve fitness and maximize calories burned. Measurement of VO2max or PeakVO2 will provide a true assessment of fitness level. The test will provide all of this data that is vital to proper fitness training.

When we speak of systemic health optimization we mean every syllable of it. Even if you are an athlete going for a marathon we can help you optimize your training by giving you hard information on the efficacy of your training.
